St George’s (Birmingham)

( 1875 - 1892 )

Homes

1875-85 Fentham Road, Aston

1885-86 Bellefield, Winson Green

1886-92 Cape Hill Brewery, Smethwick

Dis-Honours

Too many to mention, it would seem…St George’s had a reputation as a real rough & tough lot

The club gets sadly overlooked for Sunderland when the F.A decide who should be taking the place of the recently un-re-elected, really rather wretched Stoke F.C in the fledgling Football League

In 1892 the Club are the only one of the Alliance not to be invited to take part in the inaugural Second Division & that’s the final blow for the deflated Dragons

’s soon to be “Invincibles choose the Dragons as their first opponent from Brum…*

The 3rd Round of the Cup is achieved in 1885, the run including the fastest ever FA Cup Hat-Trick, registered by “TerribleTommy Green…

The furthest they’ll go in the Cup is 4th Round, reached in ‘87 where they lose in most controversial circumstances to old rivals, West Brom

Manage to rack-up 16 Goals against poor old Aston Clifton in that year’s Birmingham Senior Cup

(The club were, in their short existence known as St George’s, Mitchell St Georges & Birmingham St George’s - take one’s pick, we’ll just be referring to them as plain old St George’s)
